In late November, John Mayer came out from under the rock he has been hiding underneath to bless the world with the wonderful gift that is, "Love on the Weekend" (aka his latest single). However, he made an even bigger reveal: the announcement of a new album and tour, of course!
During a Facebook Live Q&A, the singer/songwriter revealed this information exclusively to his fans alongside the title of his much-anticipated album, The Search for Everything.
"That’s really sort of what my career has been, it’s what my life has been, it’s the way that my mind works — it sort of consumes everything," said Mayer. "That is very true to the nature of the record, which is sort of like a mixtape of all the music that inspires me and all the styles that I’ve made before, but certainly in my own certain way of doing it.”
For loyal Mayer fans like myself, this news is very exciting considering the fact that he hasn't released an official studio album in 3 years. Paradise Valley, his last official album, debuted in 2013.
For impatient fans, Mayer confirmed that his ninth studio album will be available for purchase "very soon." The "Why Georgia" singer intends for The Search for Everything to debut in spring of 2017 with a tour to follow shortly after. However, there has not been an official release date set for his upcoming album at this time. Either way, us loyal fans will sit and wait as patiently as possible for the big day.
In the meantime, if you haven't heard his latest single "Love on the Weekend" yet, do yourself a favor and listen to it now below. "Love on the Weekend" is reminiscent of his earlier sound from Room for Squares with a hint of country vibes similar to Paradise Valley. Don't worry, it won't disappoint!
Stay tuned for more updates on John Mayer's upcoming tour and The Search for Everything.
